Happiness Socks

I have written my very first sock pattern. I call them the Happiness Socks because they made me so happy while I was knitting them. I knit these socks for a photo contest that is being held during the Summer of Socks knit along. I hauled these socks up into the north Idaho mountains in search of the perfect 'Vacation Sock' photo. I had a blast doing it too. I won't know until September if my photo has won or not.

In the meantime, I decided to write up the pattern so I could share it with everyone.

These socks are knit on 2 circular needles. If you do not knit in this method, than feel free to adjust accordingly. After all, a pattern is really just a suggestion.

I pick up and knit my gussets a little differently than most people. This is the method I've put in the pattern. I have posted a tutorial on my blog that explains how to do it if the pattern confuses you.

Wonderful job! The pattern is subtle (which I love) and will look great with my self patterning yarn. Can't wait to try it out!

Very nice socks, and thanks for sharing the pattern.

But I have to ask, what is "different" about the way you pick up the gusset sts? It's the way I've always done it. Are we doing something different thanother sock knitters? EMWTK! :)

Thanks for sharing this pattern, looks very well thought out (I especially liked the pictures from your gusset tutorial). I love the way the sock look. I do have one suggestion though, since I'm a new sock knitter I think the size of the sock is a women's medium, but it would be helpful if you gave your shoe size, or maybe foot circumference. That might make it easier to determine how much larger I would need to make it for my big fat feet.

I loved that you called these Happiness socks (in ravelry) so I had to take a closer look. I printed off the pattern and have completed one sock. The second one I am already at the heel. The fit is great, the pattern is subtle and easy to follow, your instructions are well written. Thank you! I am just getting into knitting socks and I will wear these for sure. Nice job!

I love this pattern! It looks fancy, but I can follow it! I've made one pair using the pattern and will start another tonight! I love how I can pick a cool yarn and have a really amazing looking pair of socks!

Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate how well written your pattern is, too! (If I can follow it and get a nice pair of socks done, you've written a great pattern!)
